Medical Coder - Anesthesia

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Anesthesia Coder responsible for accurate coding of anesthesia services using CPT, ICD-10-CM, and ASA guidelines. The role ensures compliant billing, maximizes reimbursement, and supports timely claim submission. Qualifications • Any Graduate • Certified Professional Coder (CPC, CCS) preferred • 5 – 7 years of experience in Anesthesia Coding • Experience with US Healthcare RCM processes

Key Responsibilities

• Review anesthesia medical records and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM codes
• Apply ASA guidelines including base units, time units, and physical status modifiers (P1–P6
• Ensure correct usage of anesthesia modifiers (AA, QK, QX, QY, QZ, etc.)
• Maintain coding accuracy as per CMS and payer guidelines
• Identify coding discrepancies and coordinate with billing/AR teams for resolution
• Support audit requirements and ensure compliance standards are met
• Meet daily productivity and quality benchmarks

Requirements

• Proficiency in CPT, ICD-10-CM, and modifiers
• Good understanding of US Healthcare RCM process
• Attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Strong knowledge of Anesthesia Coding and ASA rules
